INTERESTING CONVERSATION

May 6th, 2006 by judekmv

An atheist professor of philosophy
speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty. He asks
one of his new students to stand and…

Prof: So you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?
Student: Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?
Student: Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God
to heal him.
Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is
this God good then? Hmm?

Student: (Student is silent.)

Prof: You can’t answer, can you? Let’s start again, young
fella. Is God good?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?
Student: No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From…God…

Prof: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make
everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?
Student: (Student does not answer.)

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All
these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student: Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?
Student: (Student has no answer.)

Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and
observe the world around you. Tell me, son… Have you seen God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your
God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student: Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol,
science says your God doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof:  Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Prof: Yes.

Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Prof: Yes.

Student: No sir. There isn’t
(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat,
mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything
called cold.
We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further
after that.
There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the
absence of heat.
We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir,
just the absence of it.
(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such
a thing as darkness?
Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student: You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of
something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing
light… But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called
darkness, isn’t it?
In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were you would be able to make darkness
darker, wouldn’t you?
Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is
flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student: Sir, you are making on the premise of duality. You
argue there is life and then is death, a good God and a bad God.
You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can
measure.
Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism,
but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.
To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death
cannot exist as a substantive thing.
Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me,
Professor.
Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process,
yes, of course, I do.

Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes,
sir?
Prof: (The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to
realize where the argument is going.)

Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of
evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an n-going endeavor,
are you not teaching your opinion, sir?
Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
Prof: (The class is in uproar.)

Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the
Professor’s brain?
Prof: (The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the
Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? … No one appears to have
done so.
So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable
protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir.
With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

Prof: (The room is silent. The Professor stares at the
student, his face unfathomed more.)

Prof: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student: That is it sir. The link between man & God is
Faith. That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

I believe you have enjoyed the
conversation…. and if so… you’ll probably want your friends/colleagues to
enjoy the same… won’t you?… forward them to increase their knowledge…

inspiration

February 23rd, 2006 by judekmv

I used to look for inspiration
In the silliest of things;
Stories of my fellow friends
Songs a stranger would sing -
I thought I knew what life was
And what it was all about…
And when you contradicted me,
Oh, how I’d scream and shout!
But the years started passing by
As I continued to grow…
And you began to realize
I wasn’t that little girl from long ago.
I could sense the fear in you
With the mistakes made along the way…
And I could tell, you blamed yourself,
For words you did not say.
That’s when I started realizing
That you, too, were still growing -
And we started learning from each other
Without even knowing.
I saw the way, you tried so hard,
To find a good thing to see…
And inside, I held on tight,
Keeping that outlook with me.
I know each morning when I awake
The day I face may be hard…
But I have a strength inside of me
That I keep deep within my heart -
The strength that comes from your love
And all you’ve ever given…
Recognizing that you gave your all
And were always very driven.
So when difficult times come now
I have the faith to make it through…
For a true and meaningful inspiration
…I found in you.

The girl

October 28th, 2005 by judekmv
The rain is drizzling,My tears are falling,The sun is shining,My heart is bleeding.

As I wait for the rain,To wash away my tears,I wait for the sun,To take away my fears.

This isn't me,As I look in the mirror,Who is that?Is what I ask myself.

I don't know who I am,A stranger that's lost,To the girl in the mirror,The girl that's looking at me.

I'm scared of her,As she keeps staring at me,And so I turn away,And found out it's just me.

PICK-UP LINES

October 6th, 2005 by judekmv

A song from your lips is an aria from heaven.
All this could be yours for one low, low price!
Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?
Are my undies showing? Answer: "No." You: "Would you like them to?
Are you a parking ticket? (What?) You got fine written all over you.
Are you a tamale? ‘Cause you’re hot.
Are you accepting applications for your fan club?
Are you an interior decorator? When I saw you the room became beautiful.
Are you as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside?
Are you going to kiss me or do I have to lie to my diary?
Are you lost ma’am? Because heaven’s a long way from here.
Are you Natasha, my contact?
Are you religious? Good, because I’m the answer to your prayers.
Are your legs tired, because you’ve been running through my mind all day
long.
Aren’t we supposed to get together for a candlelight dinner later tonight?
Aren’t you the tiger on the Frosted Flakes box? Cuz you look "Grrrreat!"
As she’s leaving….Hey aren’t you forgetting something? She: What? Me!
Ask a woman for the time. "10:30? So today is January 10,1999, at 10:30 PM,
thanks I just wanted to be able to remember the exact moment that I met
you."

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

October 6th, 2005 by judekmv

Noo these windows are ok to lean on.

Don’t worry it has airbags.

Hey what’s that buzzing noise?

Don’t worry its not that deep.

One time at band camp.

No, he doesn’t bite?.

Hey look a light at the end of the tunnel.

I can pass this guy.

My brakes are fine.

Nice doggy.

I think it’s trying to communicate…

"Homicidal Tendencies"?

Hey, you’re Eminem, aren’t you?

"Na, I don’t think we need to go to the hospital."

"This ‘telephone’ has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us." — Western Union internal memo, 1876.

"The wireless music box has no imaginable commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?" — David Sarnoff’s associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s

"We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." — Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962.

"So we went to Atari and said, ‘Hey, we’ve got this amazing thing, even built with some of your parts, and what do you think about funding us? Or we’ll give it to you. We just want to do it. Pay our salary, we’ll come work for you.’ And they said, ‘No.’ So then we went to Hewlett-Packard, and they said, ‘Hey, we don’t need you. You haven’t got through college yet.’" — Apple Computer Inc. founder Steve Jobs on attempts to get Atari and H-P interested in his and Steve Wozniak’s personal computer.

"Drill for oil? You mean drill into the ground to try and find oil? You’re crazy." — Drillers whom Edwin L. Drake tried to enlist in his project to drill for oil in 1859.

"No flying machine will ever fly from New York to Paris." — Orville Wright.

"Airplanes are interesting toys but of no military value." — Marechal Ferdinand Foch, Professor of Strategy, Ecole Superieure de Guerre.

"It’s a dud! It’s a dud! It’s a du…".

"Don’t touch the red button!"

Gee, that’s a cute tattoo.

It’s fireproof.

What does this button do?

So, you’re a cannibal.

Are you sure the power is off?

Pull the pin and count to what?

I've lost grip with realityAnd fell back in your holdMy heart is completely tornLike my soul has been sold

Your world is all I knowI can't make it without youI'll need you always and foreverTo make sure I push through

I need you to hold me tightTo make sure I stand steadyDon't let go dear heartBecause I am not yet ready

I'm nothing without you hereAnd I can't live on my ownPromise you'll stay with meAs I don't want to be alone

Oh what am I saying to youYou do not complete meNor will you ever decideWhat will become of thee

Understand I am a womanThe rarest of all gems For the life I choose to liveYou will no longer condemn

I'll stand on my own two feetAnd run toward a new path For all that you've done to meYou'll surely feel the wrath

I know I am strong enough To carry forth on my own I no longer need your hand Now I'll reclaim my throne

Our Playground

August 31st, 2005 by judekmv
It started off as a simple placeYou know, just a playground across the streetWhere we'd jump and skate and raceGreeting the neighbors that we'd meet

Feeling the grass between our toesAnd the wind blowing through our hairPress a flower to your noseLiving life without a care

And on the swings weid go so highSwearing one day weid flip over that railFeeling as if we could truly flyThrough the air we'd glide and sail

Oh, how many times did we skin a knee?Or burn ourselves on that hot slide? And the games we'd play, you and meLike the one where you'd seek and I'd go hide

Around and around on the tire swingIntoxicated by the swirlsGiggling and joking about everythingRunning from the boys as they chased the girls

Splashing through the waterfallFrom the sprinkler on a summer's dayAnd we'd always make the biggest snowballsWhenever winter came our way

On those lovely days in springPicking flowers with a friendAnd what fun autumn would bringPiling up the leaves, then diving in

On a bench under a treeWhile joggers dash around the trackSubmerged in tranquilityNo threats, no worries, no looking back

Guys playing basketball over here Girls playing hopscotch over thereThe ice cream truck is always nearCheer and laughter fill the air

Take me back to that special placeWhere happiness is the only ruleWhere the sun shines upon your faceWhere the world is never cruel

We'll step barefoot in the sandAnd feel the wonder all aroundTogether we'll proceed, hand in handLet's go back to our playground
